Don M. Elliman Jr.

Don Elliman Jr. is currently Chancellor of University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. A long-time executive in publishing, Mr. Elliman boasts a successful track record in business and a highly respected reputation in higher education. He worked at Time Warner for 32 years, retiring as an executive vice president of Time Inc. Other positions he has held include publisher of People Magazine and President of Sports Illustrated.

Mr. Elliman moved to Colorado and became president of Ascent Sports then Kroenke Sports Enterprises, with oversight of business activities, including The Pepsi Center, The Denver Nuggets and The Colorado Avalanche. He was appointed the director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, overseeing a wide range of economic development activities, including domestic and international business development, small business programs, the Colorado Tourism Office, and the Colorado Economic Development Commission.

He then served two years as chief operating officer for Colorado, assisting the governor in the management of all state agencies. In 2011, Mr. Elliman was named executive director of the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Biology on the Anschutz Medical Campus. He became interim chancellor for both the Denver and Anschutz campuses in 2012. He was named chancellor in  2013 and assumed sole responsibility for CU Anschutz in 2014.

Mr. Elliman has served as chair of the Children’s Hospital Colorado Board of Directors and co-chair of the campaign to raise funds for the new hospital. He serves on the boards of Children’s Hospital Colorado, UCHealth and University of Colorado Hospital, the Higher Learning Commission, the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority, the Gates Family Foundation, Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, National Behavioral Health Innovation Center, and the National Western Stock Show.
